Advertising revenues are generated easily since screens target a very specific clientele; a tactic they consider to be more effective than spending exorbitant amounts on advertising in traditional media formats. Their guidance and expertise can obviously be used to help clients obtain such revenues.
“When we meet with a client, one of the first things we do is walk around the space selected for the screens. Clients are always a little taken aback but once they understand that the only way to assess their needs is by walking the space around them, they go for it!” states Richard Fortin.
According to Richard Fortin, the future of DDS is not in advertising: “We never install screens and tell clients there is no cost involved, and that we advertise on their screens to collect our fee. When clients do business with us, they buy the entire package. Then, other partners can piggyback on the service and that could be a source of revenue for our clients”, he explains.
Interactivity is increasingly prevalent in a market of rapidly evolving technologies. ITESmedia is one of a handful of companies in Quebec offering a solution that integrates DDS to interactive kiosks. Thanks to its two trained programmers, ITESmedia created its own digital signage software. They are currently working on a browsing feature for their kiosks. Content is sourced out, as Richard Fortin explains: “Teamwork is essential in providing a complete turnkey product.”
A client’s screens are all connected through a network, which allows content information to be changed in seconds even if the screens are spread throughout the province. Daniel explains: “We don’t want the client to do anything. Data is coordinated in such a way that if clients enter something, like a calendar for example, on their website, they won’t have to re-enter the data for the display.”
ITESmedia, the division that takes care of Groupe ITES Canada’s DDS, the goal is simple: for all their projects to be exemplary achievements. “We don’t try to give our screens away! We want quality installations”, explains Richard Fortin. Visibly hanging wires and use of low-end materials to cut costs are not an option. “We always return on-site after an installation to ensure it meets not only the client’s standards, but also our own.”
Mainly a niche business, they first operated in the video store market, before breaking into the real estate market, that’s when things really took off, as Richard explains: “Especially in real estate, we are now the authorized supplier for all RE/MAX agencies in Quebec. When we arrive on the premises, we no longer need to convince clients about the usefulness of DDS”, this is still an emerging market, “Clients were a little wary in the beginning because there were a lot of scammers on the market. The situation is more stable today.
